Joe Krupa began his photographic journey in the late 1970’s producing black&white images in a home darkroom in Connecticut during his high-school years. In Indiana, Joe attended Ball State University earning his Bachelors degree studying photojournalism and television production. Working closely with his friend and mentor, Professor Jim Shasky, Joe received a professional Emmy nomination for a PBS program segment on model railroading. He continued on to grad school studying journalism and public relations before receiving a job offer as a photojournalist with TheStarPress newspaper in Muncie.
With the decline of the newspaper industry beginning in the late 1990’s, and sharpening in the early 2000’s, Joe opted to change careers and enter the field of law enforcement as a deputy sheriff with the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office in 2005. He spent the last three-years serving as the agency’s Public Information Officer and Social Media Manager before his retirement and entry back into full-time photography.
